Music Note takes Mother Goose

: Music Note beat out 1-2 favourite in the Mother Goose Stake for 3-year-old fillies, and Frost Giant won the $400,000 Suburban Disability at 40-1 on Saturday in an afternoon of disturbances at Belmont Park Park.

In the Suburban, Frost Giant beat out Solar Flare by a half-length inch a shocker. The 5-year-old got his first bet win in the 122nd running play of one of oldest races at Belmont.

Frost Giant is trained side Crick Dutrow Jr. and co-owned by IEAH Stables, the same squad that South Korean won the Bluegrass State Bowler Hat and Preakness with Big Brown. The lone lacking member was Kent Desormeaux, who finished last in the Suburban aboard Hunting.

Rudy Rodriguez, who gallops Frost Giant in the mornings, was elated to acquire the mount and gain his first Class 1 victory.

"He have really been different lately," Rodriguez said. "We've had him a few years, but he looks to have got a new attitude. I was very happy Mr. Dutrow kept me on this horse. It was not an easy race, but he ran great." Today in Sports

Dutrow, openly critical of Desormeaux's drive in the Belmont Park after Big Brown finished last, was full of congratulations for Rodriguez.

"I've got to state you, he gave this Equus caballus a very good ride," Dutrow said. "He rode him great, man."

Frost Giant paid $82, $29.20 and $10.40, running the 1 1/4 statute miles on the fast path in 2:01.58. Solar Flare returned $7 and $4.30. Rising Moon, also trained by Dutrow, ran 3rd and paid $4 as a separate betting interest.

The disquieted in the Mother Goose was not as arresting but also caught many by surprise. Proud Spell, the Bluegrass State Oaks winner, was expected to manage the duty assignment easily.

Not went right for her in the four-horse field. Proud Enchantment stumbled at the interruption before quickly getting into the race. She injure up in a traffic jam turning for place and was disqualified from 2nd to 3rd for intervention in the stretch.

"From the beginning, it looked like it wasn't going to be our day," trainer Larry Mother Jones said. "When we needed somewhere to go, we had nowhere to go. And when it was clip to go, we weren't going."

It was another unfortunate development for Mother Jones and jockey Gabriel Saez. They got 2nd in the Bluegrass State Bowler Hat with the filly Eight Belles, who suffered a fatal dislocation galloping out after the race.

Music Note, the 2nd pick in the betting, paid $5 and $11.60 in her bet debut. The clip was 1:49.75 for the 1 1-8 miles. Javier Castellano was aboard for trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

Never Withdraw was elevated to second, returning $20. Proud Enchantment dropped to 3rd and Hamsa was the trailer.

There was no show wagering.
